Chairman - Larry Roberts
Larry Roberts serves as Chief Operating Officer of the Free Methodist Church-USA, an evangelical Christian denomination with over 1-million members. Before taking his current role with the church, he’d been on its board for 17 years the final nine as board chair.
Larry spent most of his life in broadcasting, starting as a top-40 disc jockey in the 1960’s and buying his first radio station in 1982. His company grew to 12 stations in five markets before he sold it to publicly traded Fisher Communications in 1995. Larry served the next 16 years as President of Fisher’s regional radio group which, at its peak, had 24 radio stations across the northwestern United States. Upon the sale of those stations in 2006 he remained with Fisher and lead 10 of its television stations in Washington, Idaho, and Oregon, five of which were CBS affiliates.
Larry retired from active involvement in broadcasting in 2011, to pursue a dream of pastoring a church. After 17 months as pastor of a Free Methodist church in Boise, Idaho, he became C.O.O. of the denomination and moved to Indianapolis, where its World Ministries Center is located.
On June 1, 2013, he also purchased three NBC television stations in Oregon, which he continues to own.
Larry has served on the boards of directors of the National Association of Broadcasters, the Free Methodist Church – USA, Seattle Pacific University, Western Evangelical Seminary, and several local Chambers of Commerce, United Way, Salvation Army, Rotary, and other civic organizations.
Larry is married to Sheryl, his wife of 43 years. They have 3 grown children and 10 grandchildren.
